My name is Tash Kaiser, I'm a proud Gomeroi Woman and owner of Wurrumay Collective. I started my Small Blak Business just over a year ago - I had been painting artworks since I was a young girl and whilst on maternity leave with my second baby I wanted to transform my artworks into something more. This is how I started Wurrumay Collective - I started making bath, body and home fragrance products incorporating my artworks, as well as creating products inspired by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and I love to use native ingredients as well. It was so important to showcase my art in the mainstream environment and product quality everyday home use products.

Buying Blak this Christmas (and all year round) is so important because this promotes self-determination for our mob, it creates jobs, opportunities and a chance for us to succeed in the mainstream retail environment. Buying Blak this Christmas means you are DIRECTLY supporting mob and our communities.

Advice: If you are thinking about starting something in the business space then stop thinking and just do it - there is nothing more empowering than seeing our mob succeed!

My personal recommendations for other Blak owned businesses are:

Earth Jinda - Owned by Gumbaynggirr woman Jame - provides wellness and self-care products, specifically in the birthing space. As well as unique artworks.

Jaana Bulaan - Owned by Bundjalung Woman Bianca - Bianca offers a range of products for the whole family, clothing, artworks, dolls, and artefacts and hand-woven pieces.

Solwata Mana - Owned by Meleika a Torres Strait Islander women - Meleika offers a range of Art, Streetwear and Jewellery to celebrate blackness/Indigeneity.
